Job Summary
Asbestos Project Monitors / Air Sampling Technicians to serve as technical representatives on asbestos abatement projects across a variety of industries. We are open to training motivated individuals who have a strong work ethic and are interested in a long-term career in environmental health and safety.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervise asbestos abatement activities to ensure full compliance with all Federal, State, and Local
- Perform air monitoring and determine final air clearance upon completion of abatement projects in and around the work Perform a detailed final visual for the completeness of the abatement and conduct final air clearance.
- Collect PCM and TEM air samples, maintain accurate chain-of-custody documentation, daily logs, and participate in project oversight and result reporting. TEM air samples as each project requires.
- Additional monitoring may involve Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) assessments, and asbestos or lead investigations and abatement oversight.
- Travel regularly within NYC (must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license).
- Drop off equipment to the office as needed
- Drop off samples to the laboratory as needed
- Download information to the office as needed
- Provide on a timesheet on a timely basis and operate timekeeping app efficiently; timesheets submitted every other week for approved by Project Manager
Required Qualifications
- NYSDOL Asbestos Project Monitor / Air Sampling Technician Certificate
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Willingness to travel and work in field-based environments
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- At least 3 years of relevant field experience
- NYCDOB 40-hour safety class
- Scaffolding training as required by NYCDOB
- Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- In-depth knowledge of standards, regulations, industry practices, and health/safety protocols related to environmental asbestos investigation and remediation

Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role is a field position and requires travel 100% of the time, which may be physically strenuous, and demands compliance with complex regulations and schedules established by clients. As a result, some weekend or late-night work may be required to accommodate project schedules and for on-time completion of project deliverables.

Range: $25 – $30 an hour, based on experience
