Athenica Environmental is going on a virtual field trip for Earth Day, Thursday April 22nd and you’re invited! Take some time out of your day at 9am EST on Earth Day – April 22nd to visit Bangledesh where the global NGO Pure Earth is cleaning up severe lead pollution from the informal, unsafe processing of used lead-acid batteries.
First stop is Kathgora where Pure Earth cleaned up massive piles of battery waste and lead slag left behind by the illegal open air smelters.
The next stop will be the town of Mizrapur Upazila, Tangali District, northwest of the capital Dhaka. You will accompany a team of environmental experts from around the world as they assess the site, understand the exposure threat to the community, and plan this next cleanup.
Learn about how Pure Earth (and you) can stop pollution and protect our health and the environment on Earth Day and beyond!
