For the Teachers College campus, Athenica provided comprehensive industrial hygiene consulting services as well as air permitting, potable water sampling, and closure of a reported petroleum spill. Our industrial hygiene services on behalf of Teachers College included numerous asbestos and LBP surveys and oversight and air monitoring of asbestos abatement.

For renewal of the school’s air permit, Athenica completed an Annual Air Quality and semiannual new-source performance standards (NSPS) reports. Lastly, Athenica prepared a spill closure report based on information obtained from others that resulted in the closure of a petroleum spill by the NYSDEC and performed potable water sampling throughout a campus building after its renovation.

Athenica is under contract with the University to perform asbestos, lead and mold inspections on as needed basis. Prior to any renovation project at the University, Athenica is called upon by the Facilities Engineering Division to investigate the potential disturbance of asbestos and lead containing materials.

Over the last few years we have performed a large number of asbestos and lead inspections. Upon discovery of any such materials, Athenica performs the management and required monitoring of the abatement project.

Since 2008, Athenica has performed numerous asbestos inspections and air monitoring projects at the Bronx Community College.

Recently during a major two story renovation project of the main kitchen and cafeteria, Athenica was hired to investigate the presence of asbestos containing materials and subsequently to manage and oversee the asbestos abatement project.
