Athenica conducted an asbestos survey of more than seven buildings prior to the hospital’s gut renovation.

For this multi-million dollar project, Athenica conducted a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, performed a comprehensive asbestos inspection and prepared asbestos abatement specifications for the removal of all ACMs.

Subsequently, Athenica managed the asbestos abatement projects, and performed air monitoring during asbestos abatement.

Prior to the demolition of a 5-story building at Kings County Hospital, Athenica was hired to oversee the abatement of more than 15,000 square and linear feet of asbestos-containing materials throughout the building.

Under Athenica’s professional management and guidance, the abatement contractor was able to complete the project without any delays which resulted in the timely demolition of the building and the construction of a multilevel parking garage.

Over the years, Athenica has performed a number of projects for the hospital including asbestos, lead, and mold inspections as well as the preparation of specifications and project oversight and air monitoring.

When the hospital decided to upgrade its boilers, Athenica performed the management and oversight of the asbestos removal project. The demolition of the three oversized boilers, containing close to 10,000 square feet of asbestos, presented a significant challenge due to their location three levels below ground.

Athenica’s team of experienced Industrial Hygienists and Asbestos Project Designers assisted in the design of the abatement project and the abatement contractor was able to complete the project on time and within budget.
