Athenica Environmental Services has an immediate opening in its Industrial Hygiene Department for an Environmental Scientist. The desired candidate should be a team-oriented individual with excellent communication abilities and professional judgment, technical skills, a positive attitude, desire to learn, and a strong work ethic, with an ability to handle concurrent assignments for multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have 0-2 years professional experience in the environmental consulting field and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field. Candidate must be comfortable working indoors or outdoors, be highly proficient in Excel, and have a working knowledge and understanding of standards, regulations, industry practices, and health and safety protocols applicable to environmental investigation. This position provides excellent training and significant opportunity for advancement within our growing department.

Main responsibilities:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, conduct data collection and evaluation of site survey findings
  • Assist in preparation and analysis of reports and preparation of invoicing
  • Assist in scheduling, coordination and work practices in field personnel
  • QA/QC of work performed in field and reviewing all field personnel documentation
  • Assist Project Mangers in the field when necessary
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple work assignments, changing priorities and be able to meet deadlines in a fast paced work environment

Must have:

  • Degree in Environmental science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a science related field.
  • Must be able to communicate with project management team, follow instructions, multi task and be a team player. Necessary to be a self-starter and detail oriented.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Punctuality is key.
  • Highly proficient Excel, MS Word and Power Point.
  • US/EPA Lead risk assessor, lead inspector and/or Asbestos Inspector a plus.
