Athenica attended the NYC Brownfield Partnership Speaker Series Breakfast titled “Market Trends in Brownfield Redevelopment” on June 26th, 2017 in lower Manhattan. In attendance were regulators, consultants and attorneys who focus their respective areas of specialty in the brownfield redevelopment market. The format of the discussion was very engaging and included discussions related to the apparent disparity between the number of affordable housing development projects and the need for more affordable housing based on current population growth forecasts for NYC and associated age and income demographics of incoming residents. As part of Athenica’s mission for continued education and training, A.J. Infante, HazMat Project Manager at Athenica, attended an accredited Continuing Environmental Education for Professionals seminar last month at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. The seminar, titled “Current Approaches to Treatment Technologies in Site Remediation”, focused on industry trends in site remediation and emerging remedial technologies for addressing complex soil, groundwater, and soil vapor contamination. The seminar provided a forum for dialogue between industry leaders, as well as provided insight into alternative strategies for addressing contaminated properties. Athenica always encourages their team to continue to advance their knowledge and professional experience through continued education and training.
